MOOPMOOP Cleanup Strategy PlanMOOP Prevention – We are coming prepared with floor coverings of Astroturf for our camp areas, a steelhead rake for combing the grounds, extra heavy duty garbage bags to share, our own seal able trash container for guests in our lounge, evaporation gray water wash area and container, proper tools for set-up and break-down to go smoothly, spare room in our vehicles due to light packing and consolidation, four-five five gallon water containers per person and water catchments for our prep area, washable mugs for drinking, twelve environmentally aware camp members ready to take on this responsibility, and a guide to keep the bases covered at all times. Camp Layout for Prevention – We have solar lights around our perimeter to help identify stakes in the ground, which attach ropes to our shelters, as well as any potential MOOP that would immediately be picked up for storage. Our shelters are wind proof on the inside, form a three-sided square, and prevent things from blowing around when storms do occur by bringing the fourth tarp side down. Our structures have proven solid to withstand stability against the windstorms with minimal interference by us on our set-up. Lounge Area Prevention – We will have a MOOP bucket located nearby the lounge in the most heavily trafficked area, most of which is covered by Astroturf, and we patrol this daily. This year we will be armed with a steelhead rake to comb the outer boundaries as we perform this task, and may extend this service to our camp neighbors if needed. Camp Members for MOOP Prevention – Our camp members are going to have designated areas in our camp for monitoring MOOP, it is going to be a group effort that we will also schedule days and nights for the prep area as well as the lounge for MOOP correction. In our camp meetings, we discuss materials that would be most environmentally sound and reduce energy waste as we do respect the Earth Guardian ways. We each are committed to a two-hour Playa MOOP hunt after camp break-down, and to carrying MOOP satchels during our Burning Man outings onto the playa during the main stay. |
