CAMPING (IF NEEDED) (Robin D.)

  • Option 1) camp at Summer Lake Hot Springs. Roughly a 4 hour drive

from there to the burn

  • Option 2) kick it at the hot springs (see below), then keep going another

~2 hours. it's supposed to be a pretty drive and there are options off the side of the road in a number of spots. that would put us ~2 hrs out from the burn.

I'd suggest playing it by ear. If we have more energy to go beyond summer lake, great. if not, we leave early in the AM and get there 10-11am. we should expect an hour wait to get in i'm told.

WATER FILL-UP (Robin D. with commentary is from other folks)

  • Option 1) the best place for water is the free, pure mountain spring

water coming out of a convenient spigot alongside the road as you descend out of Cedar Pass, before getting to cedarville. we've been getting all our playa-bound water there since 1996 and it's awesome. there is plenty of room to park off the road and a tree for shade. it's a great place to stop the car/truck for a little rest after climbing Cedar Pass, park it in the shade and pour some cold water on the old radiator, as well as your face and head! i once saw a bald eagle drinking there!

  • Option 2) When you drive into Cedarville and you take a right to

continue on towards the Man, there is a gas station across the street on the left...the only one in town, actually. They let Burners fill up with all the water they want...and it's excellent.

  • Option 3) get it in Lakeview

'''Be aware that all of these options are still a good 2-2.5 hrs away from the Burn. So we'll have mega-weight for a good duration.'''

These are the hot springs we ended up skipping on the way down last time.
